“The trees are watching me and I am watching the trees. So come to tea, my cat, my dear!” - R. Hewitt
This piece is intended to serve as a bridge between the worldview of two adults who sometimes think they understand what life is, and the mystery and wonder that comes from recent acquaintance with the same. It is a way of honoring the beauty of uncertainty and the whimsy of childhood without forgetting the importance of darkness.
It was installed behind the peephole in the door of the Savernack St. Gallery in San Francisco, Ca. Viewers were able to experience it by looking into the hole and turning on the light that illuminated the scene within.
